I am passionate about people and possibility. I believe wholeheartedly in the words of David Whyte “ that work is not a static end point or a mere exercise in providing, but a journey and a pilgrimage in which the core element of our being is tested in the world”. I draw inspiration from the world around me, my eclectic upbringing, a degree in anthropology, a graduate certificate in Executive Coaching from Royal Roads University, and a lifetime of shared wisdom. I am grateful for my ability to support others on their road to success. I have a knack for understanding systems and unrecognized connections between issues and people. I practice maintaining an appreciative mindset and encourage my clients to “begin with the end in mind” and work backwards, using systems thinking to manage professional and personal change. I am an independent and creative thinker with an ability to synthesize ideas and data in fresh, insightful ways. I have a natural gift for honest communication and my sincerity and open mind inspire others to open up and express themselves. I love to remind people, by example, of the importance of not taking things too seriously even though there is important work to be done! An entrepreneur in my own right, I have worked in tourism, health care, education, and the social services sector. Currently, I am adjunct faculty at the Boucher Institute for Naturopathic Medicine, an associate coach with the University of British Columbia, and an affiliate with two reputable Vancouver consulting firms. I draw my strength from nature and the great people in my midst, especially my 12-year-old daughter. I have been a foster parent for 9 years and have cared for over 17 teenage girls. This experience has given me great insight into adolescence and I enjoy sharing my knowledge with families who are challenged by this phase of their child’s life. My own creativity is nurtured, in part, by my involvement with a powerhouse female a cappella septet called “The No S**t Shirleys. My love of the mountains and the ocean are why I make Vancouver my home.
